Hi Guys, i have been watching a few tutorials as i am needing to make letters for a cake.

Is Gumpaste edible? What actually is gumpaste?

whats the difference between gumpaste & fondant. I was advised to use some of that tylose powder mixed with fondant for lettering (does that make gumpaste) but is it still edible?

The tutorial lady said she prefers to use gumpaste for letters.

I tried it with just fondant but they were too soft to cut out and kept breaking.

Any help would be great

Helen

My understanding is that tylose/cmc/ tylo powder are all that same thing you add this to fondant (not too much) to make gumpaste or modelling paste as i know it and yes it is edible I use tylo powder to fondant for anything that needs to be stronger
Hope this helps
