I have never froze my cakes before frosting. Can you help? I need to know if you cut and fill them prior to freezing? I need it a week from tomorrow. My thinking is: Bake, cool, cut & fill. Place on cake board, wrap well in saran wrap. I don't suppose you crumb coat until you remove it and are ready to apply buttercream? How long do you allow for thawing? thank you!
I cool and freeze them. Then bring them out to thaw in the morning, cut, apply simple syrup, fill and crumb coat when I get home from work. HTH
