Tips/ideas On Making A Record Player Cake Without Fondant

Hello,

It's my first post! I want to make a record player cake for my husband's birthday. Not something particularly elaborate, just the basics--base, knobs, arm, record. BUT I don't want to use fondant since he doesn't like it. Help. Please.

I would think that you could use buttercream to get the base color right and maybe a Frozen Buttercream Transfer for the record. After that, maybe you could use modeling chocolate for the 3D details since you don't want to use fondant.
