It is someone's "version of Crusting cream cheese icing/Indydebi's buttercream variation"

It calls for

1 2/3 c crisco
1 8 oz cream cheese
4 lbs powdered sugar
6 T dream whip
2 T vanilla
1 to 1 1/2 c milk

What I'm wondering - is it really 4 lbs of powdered sugar? Not one 2lb bag? Just want to make sure before I commit another huge mistake...

That sounds right, although I've never made it. I checked the original recipe and it calls for 2 2/3 c. of shortening, to 4 lbs. of sugar. The total amount of shortening and cream cheese in this version is also 2 2/3 c. Should work, I think..... HTH

I haven't used that one, but Indy's recipe that takes 2 lb powdered sugar has 1 1/3 c crisco, so if you figure 8 oz cream cheese= 1 cup of fat, the recipe you posted has the same sugar to fat ratio as Indydebi's recipe.

One regular recipe takes a 2# bag. This looks like the fats are doubled, as well as the dream whip and milk. I would say the 4# is correct.

Ok, it seemed to be ok... a little soft, but then it is a cream cheese frosting....
