I will be spending 1 day in Chicago arriving around 6am and departing around 11pm. I'm looking for suggestions on which bakeries I should visit and a good place for breakfast. Any help would be great, thanks.

I've heard a lot about Flirty Cupcakes. I'm from Chicago & live in New Zealand. Can't wait to visit's a mobile cupcake van that they travel around the Chi-Town area in. here's the website, I think they'll be worth looking up:

you MUST do Molly's Cupcakes...biggest and best cupcakes around! if you just do a google search on shops and cake supplies in the area I'm sure you could find lots to visit icon_wink.gif

For breakfast I highly recommend the West Egg.

620 N Fairbanks Ct
(between Ohio St & Ontario St)
Chicago, IL 60611
Fantastic breakfast omlets and really funny t-shirts, too.

I personally would not leave Chi-town without trying MORE Cupcakes. The flavors look --- interesting??? but its something that I would want to try at least once.

I have not been to Chicago myself, but your thread gave me ideas of visiting the best bakeries on my next trip there.

Vanille Patisserie has few selections but really good entremets!
