I need I red velvet cake recipe, I tried one with baking soda and the flavor was ugly so please help me, and tell me If the baking soda can be replaced whith baking powder! Thank you in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How much baking soda did it call for? Was the box of baking soda fresh/just opened? It easily absorbs odors! What did the cake taste like? Too salty or something else?
