I made buttercream icing from the Wilton recipe like I always do.. Last night I made more and it is way too thin. I made two batches at a time (I always do) and it had 8 tbsp water. I used a different brand of XXX sugar and dont know if that is the problem. It looks like marshmallow cream but it actually moves if I tilt the container sideways.. Can I just add more xxx sugar to thicken it up?
yep add more sugar. If it gets too sweet, add 1/2 tsp of salt per pound of sugar used.
You should be able to. Hopefully that will fix it. Did you maybe forget to double the powder sugar?
Thanks..should I add more shortening? I had the right sugar in it..I used over a two pound bag..
