I am making a baby shower cake for a friend and she wants it to be 2 tiers. The bottom tier is going to be a German chocolate cake. She want the second tier to be a white cake.

My dilemma is she is leaving the filling for the white cake up to me. I know there are so many possibilities for a filling. But should I try to make it go along with the German chocolate cake or should i go completely opposite like a fruit filling? Also what kind of frosting should I use for the german chocolate cake got the filling figured out that was easy.

Do yall have a trusted recipe that I can use for a white cake or a very vanilla bean cake? What about fillings. Totally stumped on this

How about chocolate ganache for the chocolate cake. For the white cake I think fruit filling would make a nice contrast! Good luck!

Go with fruit for the top. Seasonal is great. Fresh strawberries & whipped cream is always a big hit for me. Another really good raspberry filling is: http://cakecentral.com/recipes/4143/raspberry-puree-filling. I like it a little sweeter so I double the sugar.

Frosting...are you covering in fondant? Then do choco buttercream for bottom, vanilla for top. Or vanilla BC for the whole thing with no fondant.

I like to mix things up when you can. That's just how'd I probably do it. Check out Macsmom's list of cake recipes: https://docs.google.com/Doc?id=df4f9hbq_46cs9f28fs
