Has anyone any idea how heavy a 3 tier flavoured cake not fruit 12" 9" 6" and about 5" in depth would weigh. For all these years I have been decorating I have never weighed a cake and I have this project on and need to know and unfortunately I haven't got any wedding cakes to do at the moment.

I don't know about 5" deep cake, but maybe this will help you out...
for two 2" deep layers, they could weigh a bit more than 6 lbs. total (6"=.75, 9"=1.83, 12"=3.59). Add another 12 lbs. for icing (or less if covering with fondant), and it's around 18.17 lbs. total (not including fondant, support system, boards, plywood, etc.).
