Hi, I've used this cake recipe for years for just a pan cake. It comes out very tasty, and nice. However I've never used it for a wedding stacked cake. It is moist but dense. So I'm asking all you cake pros what you think ? Can I use it or so you have a recipe similar that is tried and true.
Also I've seen posts about letting your cakes settle and placing a tile on them. Here is goes... at what point do you do this ? after damming, and filling?
Or damming ,filling, and crumb coating? Or neither. And what do you put on the cake to get frosting from sticking if you crumb coat first.
here's cake recipe.
It's called crazy cake, some of you might have it.
3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp salt
6 TB cocoa
3/4 cup oil
2 tsp vinegar
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups water.
after damming and filling, then place the tile on top and let it settle. after a few hours or next day, then you do the icing
Thank you for replying on the tile business.
Wish I could of hear from someone who would know anything about this recipe or a similar one.
