Hi there..new to this site. I want to put small fondant decorations on a cake that has stabilized whipped cream icing. I've read that this might not work out. I was thinking maybe I could put a layer of buttercream just on the areas where the decorations would go. You think it might work? I also have a buttercream icing that I could use but that also has about a cup of heavy cream in it. Would this be bad too?

The moisture content will cause the fondant to go gooey/melt. You can try to put the buttercream just on the areas with the fondant and see what happens.

Tnx for the reply. It's difficult because I've read all the suggestions about fondant and whipped icing -- and some people say its fine. I just don't wanna have a disaster. I'll probably try the buttercream icing with a little whipped cream in it...AND put a layer of just regular buttercream underneath the fondant decorations.
