Hi there guy's,

I have had a request by a friend to do her sons 15th birthday cake. She would like a one tier tyre/wheel.

Does any one have any ideas on how to get the tyre (tire) tread effect on the fondant, and what tool would work best. Actually i dont really have any tools but all hints and tips would be much appreciated.

Thanks again.

I did a quick search on "tire" in the gallery and came up with lots of photos of awesome tire cakes.

Here's a photo of one by Kathie-d

See this blog entry by the wonderful Jessicakes: http://jessicakesblog.blogspot.com/2011/05/monster-truck-how-to-make-tires-part-1.html
She made tyres out of RKT for her son, but the principle of making the tyre treads would be the same for on a cake. Good luck!

And there are also these amazing tire tread molds - pricey but so cool!
