Hi all,

I hope you are well.

I am VERY new to cake decorating (but loving every minute...errrr hour of it), so please excuse my question if it has a very obvious answer!

How do I attach cigarellos/cigarillos to my cakes?

Can I use buttercream or should you use edible glue????

many thanks

I would use royal icing. Edible glue would work too.

I'd use ganache or buttercream. I wouldn't use royal icing as it dries very hard and doesn't taste very nice.

Giggggles, I'm glad you asked this question and I hope you dont mind if I "jump" in here and ask another. Does the cake (buttercream) need to set first or can you attach the cigarellos soon after putting on the buttercream. Also, does anyone cut the cigarellos to size. My cakes are always 3" in height & the 4" cigarellos look too long.

You need something for the cigarellos to adhere to so I would say attach them whilst the buttercream is still "wet".

You could cut them with a really hot knife. You would risk some breakage that way though.

Melted chocolate works well.
