Cover Wire In Fondant Or Gumpaste

I'm looking for a tutorial or tips on how to cover a wire in fondant to make a realistic looking branch like in these pics. Any tips or directions would help.

It is hard to tell from the photograph but is it possible that what you are seeing is that they used floral tape on the wire they used for the gum paste flowers? You can get it in a variety of greens and in brown.

I'm guessing they used floral tape too.

Okay, so off the topic, but how did they get the fondant on the bottom of the offset cake like that!!?!??!?! I have seen that picture before and I have always just "wowed, and wondered"
