I have already taken all of the Wilton's classes and would really like to take more classes. I have looked and haven't been able to find anything in my area. I live in Bensalem, PA/NE area. Does anyone know of classes in this area?
Thanks!
not sure how the wilton courses compare- but there is a place in South Philly that does courses- Fantes is the name- they are located in the italian market, they do courses and sell all kitchenwares, and tons of cake decorating stuff. I went for the first time last weekend and am already going back this weekend for more! lol
I live in Port Richmond and I have also been looking for other classes to take,. I have taken the Fantes class and it is much like wiltons.
they only teach the basics. I have looked everywhere and the closest class I could find was in lancaster, but the classes are anywhere from 300 or so and up. Well worth it I'm sure, but you would also need to get a hotel room because some of the classes are 3 to 5 days long.
too funny, i grew up in port richmond- mom still lives there!
i've never really looked for classes other than wilton- but have you ever heard of CakeFu? Also sweetwise.com - they are both preparing to offer online courses...i know it is not the same as being there in person, but neat none the less..
i have fell in love with sweet wise's youtube page, they have great instructional videos (i feel like a spokesperson haha)
Do you have any cake shops in your area? Sometimes they list upcoming classes.
Go to ices.org and you can find a list of teachers giving classes nearby.
Julie Bashore has a sugar art school in Lancaster: www.sugarartschool.com
If I was still teaching, I'd come out and give some classes!
I will be teaching a class soon in Allentown, PA! When I get everything finalized by early next week, I will give y'all all the detail!
Thanks sooooo much for everyone's input. I will definitely look into some of those. Appreciate it!
Hi Jen
No I haven't heard of those sites but I will check them out.
I have tons of books and some videos, but your right it's not the same as being there in person, this way you have someone show whether your doing things right or not.
I would love it if any one giving classes would contact me.
I know about the classes in Lancaster but right now money is tight and classes are expensive, One day I will be going to them though
Rafael,
Any news on teaching a class? Also, I see that you are in Philadelphia- couple questions for you. Did you take the Fantes cake decorating class? If so, how was it? I just recently stumbled upon their shop and have fallen in love!
Any thoughts on a Philadelphia decorating class (taught by you i mean).
Your cakes are beautiful, you are a definite talent, and I cannot believe you are only 17 with the skills you have!

Ooooo...keep us posted, that's where I live! Also, Bev's Cake and Candy in Whitehall does classes. She has a website, but it always comes up blocked on my computer for some reason. It's best to look her up on Facebook.
