Recipe Help, Please

I am getting ready to ice a cake and would like to use the simple syrup?? to brush on the layers before I ice it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Simple syrup is just equal parts water and sugar brought to a boil in a saucepan then left to cool to room temp.
