I have made the orange dreamsicle cake with the recommended filling but I didn't like it. To me the filling didn't seem thick enough so I would like some ideas for other fillings. I am not sure yet if I will use buttercream or fondant to cover it.
I use pastry pride with orange zest/extract added and people love it, and it gets pretty stiff and stable as well.
It's been a long time since I've made it but Jello pudding had an orange cream at one time-do they still? I'd probably try that if they have it.
