I'm trying to figure out the best way to make an 8" cake black. I know I can just tint the icing, but I've been looking at the PME lustre sprays and I'm wondering if they would produce a good result? I would like to avoid the purple teeth effect if I could. I'm going for a nice, deep black. The whole cake needs to be black!
I use black virgin ice fondant and it's great. Its BLACK black.
If you do decide to tint the icing, just make sure you start with chocolate/brown icing as it requires a lot less colour. I don't know anything about that luster spray you mentioned, sorry.
