I have seen several recipes for gum paste and they say to use unflavored gelatin. Is there a reason why flavored gelatin cannot be used, especially if you want added color and flavoring.

Flavored gelatin would have sugar and other things added to it, so you couldn't measure out the same amounts and expect it to work the same.

Personally I wouldn't worry about flavoring gumpaste, since it dries really hard and is used mostly for decoration only.

Thanks... I purchased a Cricut Cake about three weeks ago and I have been practicing with the fondant and I am finding that the Gum Paste works best..Just wondering about the flavor...I wonder since it gets so hard, how would a person cut through the gum paste?
