I am getting ready to do a cake and part of the design is a hot pink swirl pattern on black fondant. What kind of icing should I use to achieve this? I have heard royal icing will melt and ruin the fondant, so should I use buttercream? or is there another method that will work better?
I always use royal icing when I need something on top of fondant and never had any melting. That's what I would suggest for this cake. Maybe those with more experience can voice their opinions, I'll be interested to hear what others use.
You can use either royal icing or buttercream. Neither should melt or ruin the cake.
