I need a very good recipe for a basic cake. I am fond of baking and I've tried many recipes but some of it turned out dry and a bit crumbly. It's good when it's freshly baked but after refrigerating i don't like it anymore.

There are many threads on this site that give scratch recipes and hints on how to prevent the dry crumbly texture. There is one - oh how I wish I could remember things! - that talks about doing a scratch vs boxed mix test this weekend. Do a search.
