I may have to use black fondant for a cake due this weekend. The last time I made it, it ended up being really soft...probably because you have to add so much gel colour to get black. Will adding gumpaste powder make it a little stiffer and easier to work with?

I've tried making chocolate MMF but it didn't work at all. Plus, the cake is lemon, so I don't want use chocolate mmf.

i would think that adding tylose powder or gumpaste powder would help. i add it to my fondant when i'm making flowers, figures, etc. also, i actually just made some black fondant myself for bow tie cake pops, and that's exactly what i did! i hope this helps!
