I'm making a cake for my daughter coming up later this month. I'm wanting to try using some fondant shapes that hang on the wires. Can someone please tell me how to do this, and how long in advance I can make them?

I always cut two pieces for one wire, so I have a front and a back. I make a teeny hook on the end of the wire, and then on the back of my first piece, put a little bit of water, and a piece of gumpaste, rolled very thin, just to make it more gluey. (that's another thing - I always use gumpaste on wires because it dries totally hard). Then I put a teeny bit more water on the back of the entire shape, and stick the second shape on top of that, so the wire is sandwhiched in the middle. HTH!!
