Hi all! I'm doing a cake with gumpaste shapes on wire topper. It will be picked up and needs to be already assembled.

What's the best way to do this without the wires ripping the cake? I know to put the wires in a straw or coffee stirrer but should I...tape wires gumpaste in straw, and insert wires in it... gumpaste balls around hole to secure wires in place? If anyone has delivered with wire topper in cake please share your tips. Thank you!

I use melted chocolate/candy melts. I fill the straw with the melted chocolate, stick in the wires and let the chocolate cool. Then I cut the straw/wires the length I need. I like to put two or three in one straw so the items appear grouped.

Thanks Poohsmomma, I don't have any candy melts on hand so I need to do something else.
