Im making a grooms cake - shape of a hockey rink and Id like to (if at all possible) make the ice surface somewhat shiney - Im also toying with the idea of making the board glass from isomalt as well -- any ideas out there???? Come on - I know there are -- Ive never been disappointed....
You could paint your ice surface with confectioners glaze, steam it or spray with crisco. I've used all 3 in different circumstances. The glass from isomalt is doable, but you'd have to make a mold. Have you ever worked with it before? If not, I'd recommend doing a small project (gems) to try it out. It can get really bubbly on you if you don't do it right.
