Can I pipe melted chocolate onto buttercream icing? Will I have to constantly warm it up to continue piping or do you have any other suggestions. I am wanting that color and it is hard to get chocolate that color.
If it's melted, it won't hold its shape.
I have done that - see my "Animal Cake" - all the zebra stripes and tiger stripes are black melted chocolate. I didn't have a problem, just use semi-small amounts at a time. The part at the very tip will firm, but just pinch it off and you can continue to pipe.
I found it very easy, just don't pipe onto the cake if the chocolate is super hot, let it cool for 15 sec. or so and you shouldn't have a problem.
