Hi all! I'm going to be making two of the Yo Gabba Gabba characters for a birthday cake for my nephews birthday cake. What would be the best medium to use? Fondant or molding chocolate? It's been a few years since I made a cake and haven't used either much.

Also, I will be making the cake a few days before it's to be eaten. I will be doing fondant circles to go on the sides and top of the cake. Would it matter if I put the circles on a few days prior, or should I get my sister to add them the day of? I was unsure if the colors might run, or the circles might fall off the sides, etc.

Thanks for your help...I've got to dust off all of my cake equipment, it's been a while. The last cake I made was for his 1st birthday!

I made this cake and it was super easy. Made the red guy with 50/50 fondant & gum paste.

I made all of mine from straight fondant. Used gum paste glue to put it together & spaghetti noodles to make sure the red fella didn't fall over. Painted them with gel colors.

Here they are. I loved them...
