hi i have a client who would like me to make some red velvet cupcakes but using applesauce and honey instead of butter and sugar...i have googled and searched a few online recipe sites but found nothing. so, if you have a great recipe or the link to one i would greatly appreciate it!!!! thanks
If applesauce and honey are used instead of sugar and butter, the flavor is no longer Red Velvet. The texture is no longer a tender cake. I hope your client understands that. If you want to try making this client happy, use your Red Velvet Cake recipe and make minor substitutions. For instance, instead of 1 cup sugar, use 7/8 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons honey.
