From what I've read some cupcake recipes do not convert to cake recipes quite as well. How would I know?
I have a red velvet cupcake recipe that I would LOVE to make into a cake, but I'm not sure if it'll work out.
Im not an expert but i think if you really like the flavor of the recipe you should definitely at least try to make a cake with it. I think the main difference will be bake times, so experiment with that a bit; it may have a longer bake time in cake form than in cupcake form. But i wouldnt think the flavor or consistency should be affected by the difference. I hope that helps. My method is the trial and error method.
