I would like to make Jumbo cookies for an event that I am attending but I am not sure how much a basic recipe will make.

Depends on what you think of jumbo and also which recipe you use. Some recipes I have have 250 grms of flour, other 500 or even more

If you use NFSC recipe and jumbo is about 4 inches to you, you will get about 25-30 cookies per recipe

I made the NFSC mixed with a 1/2 batch of leftover chocolate cookie dough from the Christmas Craft cookie book and I made 35-40 jumbo cookies for my daughters class and had to make a second batch to have enough. All depends on your definition of jumbo!
