Hi there,

I tried to make butterflies out of petal paste, but when I put the cupcakes in the fridge the butterflies became very soft and moist, plus the taste wasnt great =(

Some other time I made some decorations using fondant and by the end of the day they were quite sticky and moist.

Can I add gum trag to Marzipan so it dries out harder? Only asking because it tastes much better then fondant...

Sorry for my silly questions, but it does feel that Im doing something wrong here.

Help please

Many thanks

Do you live in a very humid climate? That could be the reason your pastes are turning sticky. I don't know whether you could add gum tragacanth or CMC (tylose) to marzipan, but it would be very cool if you could, because I agree that marzipan tastes wonderful and sugarpastes don't particularly. On the other hand, I've seen some small figures done in just marzipan. They might be worth a try.
