Anyone have a good, rich and tasty caramel recipe? I normally use Peter's caramel but I have an order for this week and no time to get the caramel in...plus I'd like to try and cut some costs I have looked online and there are two versions...ones with brown sugar and condensed milk and others with regular sugar and heavy cream...not sure which one would make a better tasting caramel??
There is a recipe on here I think posted by JodieF...for thick caramel. I made it last week, and it was ridiculous. I made it to fill cupcakes-worked great. The kids sliced an apple and dipped to try, and it clung to the apple slices real nice. We had about a pint jar left over, and that whole jar got eaten with a spoon. It was soooo good!
will it harden up and set on the apples?
It didnt last long enough for me to know. But if you check the post there might be someone who knows. I remember it did say that she used that caramel for apples, as a frosting and a filling.
