I made black bottomed cupcakes and cream cheese icing to go with them which I have piped on already and they have sat in the fridge overnight so the frosting has crusted. But I don't like the look of the icing and want to scrape it all off and re-pipe them, is this doable with already crusted icing? Do I need to re-beat it first and maybe add some more cream cheese/butter/sugar so that I can use it. I need to finish them in the next few hours hence the urgency! Thanks!
I really don't know. Try scraping frosting off one cupcake mix in a little more butter and see how it looks. For cupcakes I always make a looser frosting.
i decided against remixing the frosting in the end, but would still like to know for future emergencies if crusted frosting is reuable if anyone knows?
