I have never tried to stencil with royal icing on a cake. Are there any tips I should know before going for it? thank you!
use stiff royal icing. take enough icing onto your offset spatula so you only need to make one pass over the stencil. if you go back and forth or pass over it more than once, your design will get messed up.
if you have a cake dummy, i would practice on that a few times to boost your confidence.

I am going to start stenciling.....very nervous! It seems easy but I know it's hard to keep it clean!
i clean my stencil after every pass, and then dry it thoroughly with a paper towel. yes, i know that sounds time consuming, but i rather not take my chances and mess it up! good luck to both of you. i think stenciling looks great, especially when it has been over-piped with RI.
