Why Does My Fruitcake Feel Too Moist On Bottom

HI all
everytime i make a fruitcake the skewer/knife test always comes out clean but the bottom of cake when greaseproof paper is removed always feels soggy, has anyone any ideas how i can rectify this. cake appears to be cooked everywhere else but should the bottom be that moist
