I made marshmallow fondant for the first time and it falls apart when I roll it out. I tried kneading in more crisco and now it's worse. What did I do wrong and can it be fixed?

I'd need to know what recipe you followed, to know how to help.

Did you let it sit for a few hours, at least, before you started rollin' and playin' with it?

I used
16 oz marshmallow
2 tbsp water
2 lb powdered sugar
1/4 cup crisco for kneading and rolling

microwaved marsmallows and water for minute
then mixed sugar and marsmallow on greased surface

I wrapped it in plastic and let it sit in a covered bowl for an hour
Thanks for your help

Hmmm. Well I use a little more liquid, but the rest is about the same.

I put the marshmallows water, flavoring and 2tbs of shortening, in the microwave.

Then in a mixing bowl, I have 7cups of ps. I add the melted marshmallows, then another cup ontop of that.

Then I turn it all out, and knead.

The only thing I can think of, based off your directions, is that maybe you need to add the shortening to the marshmallows and melt it down.

...still thinking...

I add 3tbs of water, 1tbs of flavoring, and 2tbs of shortening.

Hope that helps. icon_smile.gif

It also helps to add some glycerin.
