Hi

I have been asked to do a violin cake for a friends sons' birthday. I am looking for a simple template. Anyone have an idea where I can find one?

If your friend's son plays the violin, ask to borrow his and trace around it onto poster board or something to make your template. Take photos too. Life size on a kid's size violin and even a full size violin isn't huge. Most people seemed to use the real thing as template.

I made a true to life guitar recently, I asked to borrow the guitar for just a couple of days (during the sculpting and decorating stage) I traced it just like pmarks0 had suggested. I like to have the real thing right there so I can make it as realistic as possible (I am a detail freak!) It was easier than I thought, the details were the toughest part! When the Birthday Girl came in she actually said "why is my guitar on the table?"...I was thrilled! If you want to check it out it's in my pics, on my profile and if you need any advise feel free to ask! Good Luck, and have fun with it!!!

Only problem I have is it a surprise, he will be 13. Also the Mum has asked for it to look like it is made from Lego. Yup I was wide eyed at this too.

Now trying to find where I can get imprint mat for the bricks here in Northern Ireland
