We recently went to have our taxes done and asked about me doing cakes. We were told that I make a enough in a year that I need to start keeping track of things. Those out there who are doing this, could you let me know what software you are using (Quicken, Quickbooks?). Something easy to use.

TIA

When my husband was a self-employed carpenter, I used Peachtree Accounting. I liked it pretty well, but I think Cake Boss is supposed to do about the same thing for you.

We use QuickBooks for accounting. Once you get your QB file set up (which does require a basic knowledge of accounting) all you need to do is enter invoices, payments, deposits, and bills every once in a while. The nice thing about QuickBooks is that it interfaces directly with tax software, it took us about 20 minutes to complete our corporate taxes this year. I don't believe cake boss is on par with full-fledged accounting software packages like QuickBooks and Peachtree.
