"I have to say just how shocked I was at Orlando's behavior on the last show"
yeah, that's what I was talking about--very unprofessional. I know i get crabby when I get tired, but really?
"I hope that is just editing and not how they really are, but real or edited it is hard to watch them behave badly."
So true----tv does like drama and if it isn't really there, they'll do their darndest to create it! It will be hard to look at some of these people the same after this though....
I wish they'd just have them work individually and make the best cake they can and then we'd see everyone's real talent. These team efforts are for the birds!

They went and "hid" Marina's cake in last nights show so she had to spend over an hour looking for it?! Seriously?! I know they want drama, but this really, really turned me off the entire episode.

There are just too many 'twists and turns' that have *nothing!* to do with cake decorating on this challenge! icon_sad.gif
NO one won over the audience with their magic? That';s because magic tricks by a cake just don't compute!
I SURE hope Jason is o.k. health wise. He is such a good decorator - don't want to loose him for sure.

I agree on both counts. I hope Jason got whatever needed to be done taken care of. I also thought having a cake do a magic trick, while neat in concept, didn't work out too well in reality. But I also realize that happens sometimes. People get a great idea for something, but it doesn't really work out the way you want it to.

The format of this show is really starting to grate on my nerves. Too much drama, not enough cake.

If it doesn't go back to being about cake, I may have to give up on this show.

I also thought it was cruel and pointless to push the drama of or exploit the friendship between Joshua and Jason when the elimination time came.
I thought that lacked class.

I didn't see any exploitation of their friendship in that ending. But everyone needs to remember that ultimately Last Cake Standing isn't about cake, it's about drama. Cake, by itself, is going to be boring to the average viewer. These shows are not aimed at cake professionals, but rather average people.

I am beginning to feel that it's not worth my time to watch Last Cake Standing. It's all about TV editting for drama impact. Pfft

And I only watched a couple eps of some of those multiple cupcake shows that seem to be cropping up. DC Cupcakes, Cupcake Wars, etc. Total waste of time imo.

I like Amazing Wedding Cakes, but I miss Cake Girls...and Marc and Merci Beaucoup, too.

I want Fabulous Cakes to come back. They showed the work AND they showed the price the client paid...my kinda show.

Well, I have to agree with everything said about the last episode! I've about had it with this show, too. The twist with Marina searching acres of hotel and casino for her cake--puh-leeze. And at the judging they went on and on about how no one did well and then sat there and praised Orlando & Jorge for doing a good job! What?! I'm sick of the drama and at this point, I really don't care who wins, cuz I probably won't be watching any more. They've almost lost me. Hopefully, I'll calm down and see it through. Sheesh.

If it were on TLC, I might agree with you. But it's on the FOOD Network! As such, I expect there to be more CAKE and less drama! It's getting to be absurd.

Does anyone know where Marina found the horse mold she used on the celebration cake she did? I have been looking and looking and cannot find anything remotely close? (It was a great cake!) thumbs_up.gif

Well, what did everyone think of last night's outcome? I really didn't think that Richard's final cake fit the topic at all. Yes, Marina's was coming apart in front, but considering that Richard had had 2 cakes completely fall over prior to that, I just couldn't believe that he won!

Ditto. Was very bummed at the show this season.

Very disappointed that Richard won. He had two cakes fall, was eliminated while Marina never was, didn't have to go through every challenge, like Marina did. I also think that while Richard does have talent, Marina is an extraordinary artists that blows him away.

The "surpirses" and false drama will keep me from watching this again. I do think they exploited the friendship between Joshua and Jason considering that, at the point they were grilling them relentlessly, making them squirm and cry, trying to get them to choose themselves or their friend, the decision of who was going had already been made as they were at the final decision table. So it was just gratuitous, pathetic and mean.

I have people tell me all the time that I should be on one of those cake shows. I think, "what? why would I want to put myself through that? They're game shows. The only thing they have to do with cake is that's the medium they torture the contestants with. But it's no different than those Japanese game shows where they specialize in face plants trying to run impossibly silly obstacle courses.

okay, I gave up on this so-called "cake contest" the night they made Marina wade through a pool to rescue her cake...till I was flipping channels Sunday night and saw a line up with Richard in it and had to stop...what? What is he doing back? and How DARE HE say Marina is a diva for being tired and sore from the work and 2nd degree burns on her fingers (how did that happen?) Somebody fill me in....

I am fed up with the Jerry Springer style cake contest...does it really bring in an audience? not if you are losing the people who are actually in the business and want to see the excellence that these designers are capable of and inspire more to try new things....I can't think of one cake in this bunch that really screamed it was worth the "big bucks" The whole process reminds me of a High School initiation where the the test is to see how humiliated you are willing to endure to be apart of the "team", or perhaps "what would you do for a Klondike Bar?" gone wild!

3 of the 4 who had been kicked off came back to work as assistants to the remaining contestants. Jason Ellis didn't return due to health reasons. Marina was paired with Richard and, since they won that round, he was allowed to rejoin the show.

Marina burnt her fingers with hot sugar.

Yeah, I agree that the show was really lame this time -- nothing like last year's with the Cake Girls and Bronwen Weber. thumbsdown.gif

Yeah, that's it for me. I watched the last 2 shows and was very, very disappointed in the outcome. Richard's cake didn't even fit the theme, it was ugly and he got to go rest, while Marina was working her you-know-what off and she loses to him???????????????? No way, I'm done. The drama is so over the top, I can't stand it any more. I love the cake challenges, but this was not a cake challenge--as someone said, it's a game show. Boo!

I can't really picture him making a cake most didn't like but I'll eventually see the episode.
