Hello...anyone out there have experience making this Wilton "tree cake"? The instructions give very little information on how to construct the tree trunk. If anyone is able to elaborate on how the trunk is created, I would love to know! Here's the link to the cake: http://www.wilton.com/idea/Our-Familys-Branching-Out-Cake#tabs

Directions for bottom cake and tree trunk:

Ice smooth 2-layer 12 in. round cake (3 in. high) in buttercream and prepare for tall-tier construction, using one 6 1/2 and one 7 3/4 in. column for tree trunk.

Lightly ice trunk; overpipe with tip 21 stripes. Thread a 12 in. curling ribbon through hole in cookie; tie onto branches.

So it would appear that the trunk isn't made of cake but iced columns from the tall-tier kit (with your 12" rounds on the 14" plate).
