I am trying to replicate the house in up... and at the moment feel a lot like Charlie Brown - I'm doomed... icon_cry.gif

I plan on using lots of gumpaste and will only make the front door portion of the house as actual cake.

What can I use to make the rest of the house?

My thought was to use store bought graham crackers but with all the details to be made in advance, my fear is that the royal icing I will be using to attach siding and roofing would soften the crackers and break. I've never made ginger bread, is this the way to go?

I don't mind using styrofoam. From experience know I'd have to cover in fondant before detailing... what do you think?

Advice, tips, help your experiences would be greatly greatly appreciated!!! TIA!! thumbs_up.gif

If it were me, i'd be making a whole ton of rice krispie treats! Once they're set they'll be solid enough to support a lot of weight and royal icing sticks to them nicely. Plus, it's still edible!! Good luck!
