I purchased some clear venuance pearls online and tried to make a sugar diamond for a large diamond ring that is going on top of a bridal shower cake in a few weeks.
I melted the pearls in 30 sec bursts in the microwave until they melted and were able to be stirred....and the mixture looked clear.
I then poured the mix into my diamond mold, tapped it on the counter to try to get most of the bubbles out, and let it set.
After about 15 minutes, I checked on the diamond. It seemed warm, but was set so I took it out of the mold. There were a million tiny bubbles in this thing and it was a light white color. I rubbed it after a few days with vegetable oil, as I read somewhere that this would help with it being foggy. It didn't help though and it is still not CLEAR like a diamond and like a want it.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get this diamond CLEAR?? I'd love any suggestions.
Thanks,
Suzanne
