What kind of wire is used to make those whimsical cakes with the wires sticking out?
Also, I've just started working with fondant and gumpaste. I rolled it out using powdered sugar. My pieces look all dried out from the powdered sugar, is there a tip you can give me to get rid of this...other than wiping them off with a damp cloth? I've seen on TV shows where they use steamers on fondant...what do they use this for??

I know this doesn't answer your question directly but I don't use any powdered sugar to roll out (Unless its very thinn flowers)
I roll out on a silpat... The same thing you would bake cookie on.. and it doesn't stick AT ALL. I also use non stick rolling pin. So no powdered sugar needed.
With the flowers I use a dusting bag so there really isn't annything on them once I lift them anyway.
