I'm going to use fondant for the first time, I'm not a professional baker...I've only baked one cake in my life..this is going to be my second one(from scratch) and I wanna use fondant..my question is can I use any kind of icing with it or it has to be butter cream icing only?

Hi , I am new to this too ! You can use marzipan , modeling chocolate or chocolate ganache under the fondant rather than buttercream . I have used all three . Make sure whatever you use under the fondant is really smooth so you dont see any lumps . There are loads of tutorials on youtube . You should have a look at it first . Good luck . happy baking

Ive only just noticed that this is your first post . I only joined CC a couple of months ago , decorated my first cakes at Christmas. I have learned so much from this site . I was totally clueless before I stumbled on it . You will learn so much here !!!
