Hi all

I had to laugh at myself for not thinking this out before I started the cake but here goes..

I always wanted to try the viva paper towel method everyone raves about on here. I purchased the paper towel, make a cake and iced it in butter cream.

What I didn't think about was that Viva paper towel in Australia has ripples in it. Although I got a pretty even finish to my buttercream, it had a checkered pattern on it from the ripples!

Luckily everyone thought it was part of the design!

Does anyone know what the alternative paper towel to use in Australia is so I can try this method?

What do other Aussie decorators do?

thanks for the reply Staciesweets but isn't the wax paper too greasy for this technique?

I've been wondering the same thing! lol - nothing like a few waves and dimples when it's meant to be nice and smooth!

I use various rippled and designed paper towels to give cakes a different look. I have been complimented over and over about how the heck I could spend so much time getting the icing to look like lace etc and I just lol knowing it's paper towels! lol
