Ideas Needed For A Simple Wedding Cake
Decorating By cakesbyrose Updated 22 Mar 2011 , 2:23am by cutiepiecupcake
SO i got a call today to make this wedding cake for next week. She wants a fairly simple cake.
The groom is African and the bride is Australian
nothing to flowery or girly...just simple and elegant..
how would i incorporate something african into a wedding cake?
i was just thinking of doing a simple tall square cake with stencil...thats all i could think of...but i wanted to something a little more!!1
any ideas!!
I tried googling some images, but they kept taking me to ones that looked like Lion King cakes. Maybe a tall tiered cake like you were saying, but outlining african violets (sorta like stenciling) down the sides?? This way it wouldn't be too girly and flowery- you could even do it in a black royal icing or something. Good luck and make sure to post pics!!
You didn't mention whether you were limited by the use of certain colors or not. In any case, maybe one of these will inspire you...

I automatically though of a tall round cake, airbrushed orange and yellow with black sillohettes of trees and girafes, etc
Kind of like the toy: http://www.aikarin.com/mlp/customs/2006/as_ds_l.jpg
but on a cake! You might need to use your imagination! lol

i would definitely not call it simple lol but its gorgeous and could offer some inspiration!
the bottom tier is what laurenboxall was talking about- i love how on the cake they did part painted and part with fondant to give some depth. totally awesome
I think if it needs to be simple and elegant, I would maybe choose a striking native flower from each of their countries to place on top of the cake, tied together or something. both Africa and Australia have some amazing natural flora!
