I had posted before (I think) about my impending bilateral tram flap reconstructive surgery. Well, I underwent the procedure on March 1. Pain wise it's really not as bad as I thought it would be. Not my favorite by any means, but I'm not wishing for death! The worst part is the upper respiratory infection I came down with - constantly coughing after such a major surgery is NOT recommended!
Anyhoo, I went to a postop appointment today and doc said he doesn't want me to do ANYTHING that puts any stress on my abdominal area for TWO MONTHS! No rolling fondant, no rolling cookies, no lifting (anything heavier than a milk jug), no pushing, pulling, etc. That doesn't leave much I can do for cake decorating - I think we use our abdominal muscles a lot more than we would really think!
I'm bummed out, but already bit the bullet and contacted the people who I had scheduled for cakes after April 1. I just hope they don't hate me!
Just had to get it out - thanks.
Alyssa
