Has anyone made Buddy's home version of his chocolate cake? Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it either comes out really nice and moist, or it comes out dry. I was wondering if anyone attemtped his recipes and their opinion about his recipe.
I am new so this is the 2nd chocolate cake recipe I tried. The first time must've been a fluke: taste moist and was great! The 2nd time was a bit dry. I don't know if it was overbaked or the quality of cocoa and chocolate I used. I used Hershey's cocoa and chocolate. He recommends Baker's chocolate and cocoa. My 1st attempt I used Ghirardelli chocolate and cocoa.
If anyone has tried his recipe, I like to see what the feedback is like. I think his vanilla is good.
I have his book and so far, his recipes are well written and delicious. Put a thermometer in your oven. They can change in one use. I also take my cakes out when there are a few crumbs on the toothpick. They finish baking in the pan for the amount of time specified for removal.
