For several years now I've had an Ateco cast iron turntable and love it.

However last year I purchased an Ateco pronged attachment for doing dummies. I love it...but pretty much after I used it on a few cakes, it evidently rubbed something uneven inside my cast iron base because ever since then, my regular plate now vibrates when I spin it. NOT good for buttercream.

So I need to replace my turntable, and then the old one can just be for my dummies, no problem...since it evidently likes the pronged attachment better now. haha.

I saw Fat Daddio looked like it had good reviews...looks hard to find but GSA says it should be available in a few weeks. OR should I just order another Ateco? I really should get it soon....its hard to ice the side of a cake perfectly smooth when my plate is vibrating!!!!

I have a Fat Daddio's turntable, and I love it! It turns smoothly and does the job.

I think the Fat Daddio turntable has ball bearings for a smoother and longer lasting mechanism. I don't know if it is true, but I just bought one the other day and will be trying it out next week. It is really heavy though. It won't be knocked off the table by me, that is for sure.

I just ordered the Fat Daddio so I hope its a good one!!!!! My old Ateco, which I loved, will just be retired to only being used on Dummy cakes....since the pronged attachment is what probably threw it off anyway....
