I have been decorating cakes for more than 35 years! Love it! What I am wondering is if there is a ready made supermarket (ie Betty Crocker) canned icing that works well for a few flowers. Anyone have luck using some of these products? I sometimes want to add a couple flowers, and don't want to mix up a new batch of icing. I don't do it often enough anymore to keep icing in my fridge.

All the ready-made icings I've tried are way too soft to make flowers with. You might try adding some powdered sugar to a ready-made icing, although that might be as bothersome as making icing from scratch.

Try keeping some of the Wilton pre-made icing in your cabinet, they come in the same size container as the others (betty crocker, etc) and comes in the stiff consistency you can use for flowers.

thanks for the Wilton tip! I didn't even know they had such a thing. Will have to check it out!
